Default velutina seeds in february

had a good day today, popped down with the family to the RHS gardens at Wisley , Surrey (near London) and a ripe velutina fruit fell into my hands yielding 38 lovely fresh seeds which I can plant tomorrow.

The other Musa and Ensete specimens they have in there are doing well as are the Basjoo they have outside.

Not bad for February! mind you it was in the lovely new greenhouse they have

Coldy out tonight though.... Brrrr

Hey 51,
I would advise soaking them in luke warm water for a day or 2, just for that added advantage.

NICE glasshouse!

Taylor

Gotta agree with Taylor. I'd soak em for a day in warm water. Also if they are fresh off the plant you might let em dry for a few days before planting. Haste makes waste. Hope this helps!--Nate

Nate, gonna have to disagree with you on this one. I would absolutely NOT let them dry out! Once they are dried out, it can become very difficult to rehydrate them. Some banana seeds require a storage period in order to germinate, but not Musa velutina. Sow them good and fresh.
