I just got on the list at going-bananas.com I am number 30, so it is expected that I will get it in late summer or early fall. I ordered 2, so I hope to TC a bunch of them then. (Unless someone has a pup that I can use in the meantime.) PM me if you have one of these, Lakatan, or Kandrian - or any Chinese, Philippine or SE Asia bananas for TC. No hurry as I won't be set-up until late July and it's too hot to ship them now anyhow.

I received my Viente cohol yesterday and I transplanted it to a 7 gallon pot.
I ordered this a while back. Going Bananas notified me last week and I sent $25 for the banana and $9 shipping. I am very satisfied with the plant. It is wrapped up real good, the corm was embed in wet moss and the stem was very fresh. It has a large corm with lots of white new roots. I also have lacatan, and 23 other varieties but they are mostly young. But I have excess of Sweetheart, SDC and Dwarf Cavendish. And Raja Puri and dwarf orinoco.

Great news...my veinte cohol has its first pup emerging from the soil!!! I'm really excited about the new pup. With highs in the lower to mid-90's and lows in the mid 70's, the bananas are growing lightning fast! I've been loading them up with fertilizer as well. I need to lay off the fertilizer for a little while because I think I may be overdoing it. Anyone else have V. cohol yet?

Sweet! Let me know how fast it grows. Also, when your lacatan pups, I would love to be on your list for a trade or purchase.
Hope my VC comes soon. Thanks for the pic. |

Did Katie from Going Bananas ever tell you what number on the waiting list you were. Like Scot (Chironex) says that he is #30 on the list. I was just wondering which numbers on the list they are now filling orders for. Thanks. Chong |

Chong:
Katie never told me what number I was when I called her that I wanted to order VC except that she told that I would be receiving a phone call around July or August when my turn comes. It just so happened I received the call on the early part of July true to her word. I am very happy with the transaction since it is a corm and the corm was very large to boot. She cut a large part of the corm from the mom. $25 plus shipping.

For those who are on the waiting list for their Viente Cohol from Going Bananas, I just got word from Miss Katie that they are now processing # 8 and #9 from the waiting list. (Bencelest was #3, so you can gage the rate they are progressing.) They have sent out notices to them and are awaiting payment if they are still interested. So, if you are on the list, make sure that you read/check your emails, including your Spam Mail, just in case.
Good luck, people! |

4 days ago my Viente Cohol had a new leaf emerging. It is now about 1 1/2 inches.
I plan to keep it inside by the East room window, the same as the Monzano I got from Jarred.

Hi,
I also want one for my yard in Lucianópolis, but the prohibition of the banana pup import. Does Veinte Cohol have another name in Brazil in Portuguese or there is one very similar in Brazil? If yes, where I can get one in Brazil? Veinte Cohol is also interesting for crossing with Musa basjoo. One hardy quick ripening fruit banana which is as hardy as Musa basjoo might be ideal! Best wishes Basjoofriend |

My V. cohol is growing very quickly now in this summer heat. The leaves have really increased in size and it's putting on nice pseudostem growth each week. Here's a picture that I took today. I'd estimate it has about 3 feet of stem.

I called to get on the list - the guy says it will be end of Sept or maybe 1st week in Oct. - He says he's waiting on his next shipment from the lab. I didn't know these were tc's they are selling. Anyone get a real pup, or is everyone getting tc's?

Okay, I got added to the list today and am number 37. Most likely, it will spend the winter in my greenhouse, unless it arrives after winter.
Worldwide Plants (IBS member JeffreyP) has them listed on his site and I wrote him on Friday but haven't heard back. Anybody get one there? I don't know if he can ship that to California. |

I've seen them on the WorldWide Plants site, but the site doesnt seem to be able to accept orders for any banana varieties. There is no way to add them to the order, like some of the other plants.
