What do you mean by barely? I just read some interesting stuff from a dr. Fonsah from the University of Georgia. ....I know its warmer in the Southeast.

I don't know why you would want to grow it when you can grow something better in your zone and be successful.. Of the reviews (plant grown in a pot) of the fruit are not all that great.. I'm glad mine is in the ground so hopefully its all good. :^)

I visited Jon's place one time and tried some of his. The fruit were tiny and the edible flesh was maybe about the size of a large marble. I think he said that the bunch was not fully developed for some reason, could have been the winter. Was not a big fan of the flavor, it reminded me of a more bland but creamier and less chewy version of Orinoco. To me at least it's not worth growing. His Misi Luki Namwah were phenomenal though. :08:

Don't bother. I've had one for coming up on three years. It barely survives through winter, often with the main stem dying and a pup replacing it. It is the slowest of the 20+ varieties I'm growing, and is nowhere near flowering.

Ok,

I am convinced, I wont invest any time or effort with veinte cohol...

I have a small pup, maybe two feet high. I've had it potted all summer and I don't think it has grown any bigger. It seems to be the slowest growing banana I have. I'm in Huntington Beach though, it seldom gets very hot at my place. I have been told it will not do well outside over the winter.

Re: veinte cohol

The other reason not to grow it is that no one raves about its flavor. If a plant is going to be tough to grow in my climate, I at least want the potential of an exciting payoff of delicious fruit. Yangambi KM5 falls that category -- a very slow grower in my climate, but some folks have raved about the flavor. Maybe some day I'll get to try it!

I'm growing it here in my zone. I'm sure it would come back for me,as Siam ruby comes back from the ground for me being mulched over. But I only hav one VC so not going to risk it and putting it in the GH when it's winter.
