Sunburned and wind battered, it's a rare plant, but it's a pain in the neck it rarely looks good, its not a Banana for the great out doors thats for shore.

Very nice Tony, regardless.
Maybe you have some spot you can relocate it to? |
Re: Variegated Disappointment
The one you gave me also burns badly in the sun. And its not the fastest of growers either. Two pups broke the soil about 5 months ago and they are still only an inch tall today. They are still so small you can't see if they are going to be variegated or not.
I do love mine though:ukkibannana: |
Re: Variegated Disappointment
Hi Jerred, My garden is small as is my green house, there's nowhere to place it out off the sun or wind because its about 7 foot now. The trouble with variegated basjoo outside in the uk, is they need warmth to do well but not full sun, so if you place them in the sun they burn ,if you protect them in the shade its to cold for them to do well. Mark, the one in the pic' is the brother or sister to your's if thats possible in the banana world, and unlike the parent plant which was a100%variegated its only 50%. tony
