Yes, although I would not use the flavored ones.

Re: Used coffee grounds good for banana plants?
Yeah it’s just standard coffee from a coffee shop. Get it free and they throw it away so
Thought I’d use it for better use. Is there any risks associated with coffee? Eg allelopathic affect/ caffeine. Or can bananas handle it as they love nutrients ? |

Re: Used coffee grounds good for banana plants?
I would consider composting it before mixing it into the soil as an amendment (although I have never mixed it in directly so don't really know if it would be a problem) or just using it as a top dressing/mulch layer which is what I usually do with it (not bananas yet, but lots of other plants) and it works great that way.

Re: Used coffee grounds good for banana plants?
Coffee is one of my favorite things in the world along with barbecue. I like to drink a coffee before every meal and after I wake up in the morning. A few weeks ago I calculated how much money I spend a month and I saw that coffee was one of the things at the top of the list. I thought that buying a coffee grinder would be a great idea since it would cost me less. I was looking for coffee grinders and I found this website, https://www.linlin.in.th/coffee-grinders/. I saw that their prices were decent and you could choose from a plethora of products. I bought one and I am glad about the purchase so far.

Re: Used coffee grounds good for banana plants?
There is a worldwide coffee chain which has many stores giving away free coffee grounds as a soil amendment.
You can sometimes pick up a few pounds a day. Coffee grounds are a great soil amendment and top dressing to the garden or planter. There are also some good Youtube videos which show you how to use coffee grounds in creative ways. |

Re: Used coffee grounds good for banana plants?
One of the reasons coffee grinds are so good, is ph control/adjustment. Most plants like a ph between neutral and slightly acidic, which coffee grinds help with.
You can add then directly to the soil too. I get a bunch and blend them with a few other ingredients. Composted is best, blended with manure and added minerals. Last edited by AaronTT : 05-26-2021 at 07:48 PM. |

Re: Used coffee grounds good for banana plants?
I have never used this method, but now I know I should think about it. I'm always drinking coffee, and I have to throw out the coffee grounds. And if this can help me in my banana-growing hobby now, that would be great. Especially since I just recently got myself a new Breville Grind Coffee maker that I heard about from https://www.coffeeinformer.com/coffe...-with-grinder/. Now it's easy for me to get the coffee grounds out and move them to some storage bowl. I will use this method and share my experience. I hope it'll work for me.
