![]() Am I correct in assuming that a hobbyist cannot request specimens from this source? I'm not a scientist; I'm just a gardener.

![]() Anyone can request, but actually receiving the material is another matter. As a bonafide researcher I've requested material many times with no response. Generally they would discourage casual hobbyists as it is quite an effort to prep the plants and send them off. Other USDA genebanks maintaining seed collections are a lot more likely to freely send small seed samples.

![]() I know about UCDavis for ficus and other starts so I was wondering about the tropical repositories. I've never requested any plant material but might someday. Thanks for clarifying.
