Heck

A pup is pushing, but the short pstem stump isn't???? .... I would clean the stump back to make sure the core is green above the corm. If found to be dead into the corm more remedial actions may be required to save the corm & pup.

... This is exactly the way corms in trouble try to save themselves by pushing pups for new roots before their stored energies are depleted.

Max,

Thank you for your advice, suggestion buddy!.....I really appreciated!...It looks like a pup but the one that is pushing out is the main corm!....Instead of coming out straight up from the center, it burst out thru the side of the corm!....A new growing point!....It happened to me before!....I separated 2 nubs/pups from the huge Ele'Ele corm before planting it in a pot to make sure the huge corm push out!....

You can see in the following pictures of Musa Ele'Ele that the growing point busted out thru the side instead in the center of the corm!....Soon the old piece of P-Stem stump will be all dried up!.....The new growing point is taking off growing fast!.....Nanas are amazing!....
