yes pinch a penny is more than twice the price. I have never bought home depots pool sand but I use their play sand for sand blasting which is very fine and about half again cheaper. definitely would not recommend the play sand for bananas.

Looking good Hector! The Praying Hands bunch is really cool. I'm gonna to add that one to my collection. I've heard a lot of good things about its vanilla taste.

Any of the recent cold weather make it down to your part of Florida? I've had some brushes with the low 30's and growth is at a standstill. An emerginng flower has been frozen in time for about three weeks. Looks like someone hit the pause button on a video!

Thank you Donald!.....Weather has been around mid 50's in the mornings on the last 2 days in South Florida!....Forecast says it will go back to normal weather (higher temp) for the rest of the week!....Musa Praying Hands it's one of my favorites!....Awesome creamy Nana with a hint of vanilla flavor!....

was supposed to be 32 here in the morning for the last couple of days, made it to 36. frost got almost all the leaves in the back yard, but didn't hardly do anything in the front yard. my praying hands and the fhia 17 were the worst hit in the front. hard to tell at this point what they will look like after this morning. my dwarf Brazilian flowered but the leaves on her still look ok, but winter will probably take her all out.

plants looking great guys.

Yeah, mine just started showing bronze on the leaves here and there after this latest brush with low 30's with clear skies. The deep blue-green summer leaf color has faded to a dusty, yellow green color. We will have almost a week of upper 60's and lower 70's coming up which will help. Looks pretty sad in the banana patch but I will have harvestable bunches for Christmas.

Hector do you treat the end of the rachis after you cut off the bell? I noticed that the end of the rachis looks pretty clean at the cut but mine (untreated) seem to develop a bit of mold/mildew on the end although it doesn't appear to have effected the bunch.

Thanks!

Donald,

Most of the times, after I de-flower the Nana fingers and cut the flower bell off, I treat the Nana bunches with Copper and Serenade!....I always have very good and clean Nana bunches!......
