Two more flowering bananas = 12

I went outside this cold morning and found two more flowering plants. It has been the coldest summer in a very long time and I have 12 plants that have flowered and are fruiting. Very strange! Number 11 is suppossed to be a tall Oronico. This is my fourth Oronico to flower this year.

Number 12 was sold as a Basjoo. Do they flower?

I'm still waiting for one of my AeAes to flower. Three of them are over 12 feet tall.

Who knows maybe U ll get the warmest Winter now if U allready had the coldest Summer. Any chance to protecet some of them?

Very cool Andrew, those Ae Ae have got to flower next year...hope to see that anyway. Next year I'm shooting for 12 then.... the bar is raised!

Andrew ! you are having the best luck this year , may not have been the best time to fruit, but you have had a lot flower this year ! good job , they both look great! and that basjoo, woohoooo

Thanks so much! I attribute it to lots of mulch ( I apply 20 plus yards a year to all of my plants), my chickens own organic manure, our temperate weather and my plants have been in the ground for a few years. I still must have 200 plus potted tropical plants that need to get into the ground. It is a never ending task but I love it!

Yes Basjoos flower

as you can see. They even form bananas, hehe, usually there are viable seeds in those bananas. You never see seeds of basjoo cause they are all clones and are cultured it's the easiest way to make lots of them. But they can also be grown from fresh seed.
