Default Transplanting Pups

I just received a Blue Java yesterday (thanks J!)

It has a baby one beside it that i will be giving to a friend.

I am worried now that i removed it wrong and now it will die.
I dug it up but had to tear some of the roots to get it out,but
there is still several inches of roots left. There was a little
node hanging off of it, that looked like a crowbar. I left
that alone. I put it in a small pot using the same soil from the
first pot. Do you think it will live?

the leaves on the baby are really damaged (from the sun i think)
i hope it doesn't die.

What do you guys think?

It'll probably live but upload some pics to your gallery and post them so we can see.
How big are we talking?
