Time to STOP???
Hello
With October almost upon us I was wondering when to stop fertilizing my nanna's. I'm here in South Lousiana just north of Sin City (New Orleans) Thanks in advance for your comments and advice Snookie:}

Re: Time to STOP???
It all depends on when growing season typically ends and the plants start slowing down. I fertilize last in October in SoCal.

Re: Time to STOP???
My usual frost is in early November, I live on the edge of Zone 7b, almost Zone 8a. I put the last chicken manure on my bananas about 2 weeks ago. So Ive stopped putting fertilizer down on my bananas. December should be right for you. What is the avg last frost date in your area? I leave about month fertilizer free before its time to put them to sleep.

Re: Time to STOP???
When the average daily temp (not your daytime high) is in the 50's your banana plants won't be growing appreciably. Stop fertilizing at a point early enough that you avoid having excess nutrients in the soil when the bananas aren't growing.
