How long has it been in this location? The only thing I can think of is if it encountered some form of stress (maybe even winter?) when the flower bud was being formed. I'm pretty sure my California Gold is smaller because I transplanted it about 10 weeks before it flowered.

This is the original location,has never been moved. Only cut one pup and that was over a year ago.
