I've got too many banana pups growing and some growing in the wrong places, so I've been cutting them down at about the same level as the ground. It seems that every single one of the ones I've cut down has been regrowing back. I'm fairly certain I'm cutting them down incorrectly. What is the best way to remove a pup in order to have it not grow back?

You'll need to cut them off parallel from the mother rather than perpendicularly. Using a sharp shovel or digging bar, cut straight down into the ground and therefore the corm to separate them. Dig that out and you'll have a pup with the corm and some roots.

The pups can be sold, given, or discarded, but it'll be gone. Cutting them off at ground level only removes the leaves, and the corm will still keep pushing new leaves.

The unwanted pups wont regrow if, using a sharp knife, you cut the unnecessary ones off at ground level, then, with the point of the knife downways cut out the centre growing tip. Into the hollow, pour a teaspoon of kerosene.
If the pup is over 1 foot high already, you might need a bit more kerosene. This is one way we do it in Australia.

I'm thinking that if I pour kerosene on the corm then the remaining banana bunch would probably not be considered organic. Is that true?
