Sun was up already too. One foot stomp and the cat popped off into the palmettos.

Our area is about 60% undeveloped - lots of critters. Love 'em all - 10 years ago this area had wild hogs, I'm told. Recently, a big mama boar and her pups tore up a bunch of sod right in front of city hall - just a rootin' away. And a wild turkey hen stopped traffic for a while right on PSL Blvd strutting thru the grass next to the roadway. It's very gratifying to still see a bit of old Florida, now and then, in our times.

Dan

That sounds like a wonderful place to live!!!

Harvey I heard that information also on some type of learning channel on TV. Isn't the ocean raising a few inches a year also? Don't know if that's correct but seems like I had heard that also.

i can deal with the hila monsters, gekkos, scorpions, palmmetto bugs, misquitos, bobcats, boars, deer even packs of wild dogs, toads, frogs(tree frogs are the koolest) saquadas, aints, but i hate a snake. i know they are good for the garden and they get rid of mice...so do my cats. i dont like snakes. uhhhh. ive seen wild turkeys, have a deer that eats my hybred daylilies( till i planted daffies around them). then like a idiot, i walk up to the deer calling out to it come here with my hand out to pet it, suddenly relizing one good kick and im history. so i backed away slowly!!! even grandpa opposum who ate my cats food till i put it on a concrete wall, dogs in my yard...but i dont like snakes! we have a red tail hawk that lives in my hood( hes beautiful) and turkey buzzards these things dont bother me. a snake sneaks up on you and then jumps out and says im here i want to bite you! i had a very tramatic experience as a small child. i may not get to kill the snake but i dont go anywhere in my yard without the company of my shovel. . i have yet to see a bear in person but im not to sure i be scared of that. might be paralized with fear, but i dont think id be scared. lol!

I'm also going to blame my hair loss on global warming. Come to think of it, global warming is more than likely the reason I got that sinus headache the other day! Global warming is also responsible for my prescriptions being so expensive. My cell phone battery is almost dead due to global warming too.

Just having a little fun!

Seriously though, it has been nice and cold recently, but I haven't seen one temperature that has been out of zone for that area. Knoxville got to 12F yesterday morning and 15F this morning, still zone 8a temps. We are a zone 7a, but haven't seen zone 7a temps since Jan. 2003. This is January, after all! I'm in Orlando presently, visiting my folks. They predicted as low as 26F for here, but I think the low was 31F. We were 30F here in Oviedo, FL. Citrus all looks good, and the cold air will actually help to sweeten the fruit up a bit.

No. I would be sitting under 4 feet of water right now if it was (I'm already below sea level as it is!!!). Some reports in the media would like to have you believe that, though. The sea level has risen in some areas and dropped in others, but not in inches anywhere that I know of (I have read some figures of 2mm which is less than 1/10 of an inch). http://illconsidered.blogspot.com/20...s-falling.html

Bigdog, I'm just having some fun too!

Like they say, higher in some locations and lower in others. You should ask around to see who got your 15 points! LOL

maybe global warming caused my idiot teachers brain to expand and then it leaked out his ears... higher in some areas, lower in others! ha ha. i was one of the lucky ones. only 1 other person got a 100 and one got a 75. everyone else in class got lower then i did. we are still waiting on the appeals for that paper of mine. so yes global warming is to blame. ha ha
