Sunburned? Or just Over-loved?

Hi! I have recently planted a Maurelii and an Orinoco. At the Nursery they were in high light but crowded and therefore somewhat protected areas. We are in the Houston, TX area - it is still mid 90's during the daytime.

We had a bit of a domestic dispute - Husband insisted they be planted in the middle of the yard where the light is brightest and hottest. I thought they should have been put closer to another tree where the amount of direct sun would have been several hours a day less.

Well, he won and the plants, especially the Maurelii, have brown edged, drooping leaves. Even the new leaf that has come out now has brown areas.
The plants were lightly fertilized and rather heavily watered for the first week.

Will the plants eventually adapt to their new light levels?

Edit to add: There are photos in my photo gallery.

Thanks

Looks like just a little bit of transplant shock and maybe a little bit of fertilizer burn. Doesn't look too serious though.
It's always a good idea to wait on fertilizing things for a week or two when transplanting.
They will adapt, then you can cut off those ugly leaves when they get some new ones, or trim the edges with scissors.

Ditto.

Excellent. I suspected as much reading through past posts, it seems hard to kill one outright. But I worried when the new leaf had damage as well.

Okay, I will just leave them alone! Thanks.

I was having trouble with the edges of the leaves turning brown. I put mine in the shade/sun and itis doing much better. I would suggest less sun next year.:doggyandnaner:

Unfortunately they are now "planted" and not moving.I was afraid that location would be too sunny, but hopefully they will adapt. Especially with cooler weather coming.

In my experience I have compost to work wonders with bananas. There is no risk of burning and the plants truly love it.
