Success rate improving?
It seems to me that, when I joined the org, three years ago, there were a lot fewer reports of blooms and fruit than there are today. Is this just due to the fact that we have a lot more members now than we did then, or are members actually getting better at what they do? What do you think?

Re: Success rate improving?
I think folks are learning the right way to do it since joining the org with all the great advice and knowledgeable folks that frequent here. AND it never hurts the odds that there are more people! :)

I think its a testament to the members dedication, Education, passion, investment and Luck coming to a head. The great weather doesn't hurt either :^) I think its great and can only draw more folks to do the same. :^)

Re: Success rate improving?
I think it's a combination of many things. More members here, more members growing more varieties, and the age of plants. It took me 3 years before I got my first bloom after plants getting knocked back each winter. Some members like Bob have been dedicated at digging up plants each year and now their time has finally come. Oh, and then there's Patty who decided to sleep with her banana indoors and finally got rewarded. ;)

I'm with Harvey....I would say it's because there are more members here, they are growing more plants and the plants they have are older/more mature than in previous years.

I think it's a combination of more of us having done it longer, better cultural practices: proper site selection ,picking the best cultivar(s) for your area, watering, fertilization and overwintering (all learned here in my case) ....long term inspiration, the weather and some luck doesn't hurt either.:woohoonaner:
