Default Strange "namwah" happenings...

Last spring I bought a banana from ebay seller "mda1515" as namwah 'pearl'. He/she is selling them again. It turned out to be a dwarf with yellow-green foliage that I suspect to actually be 'Miami gold'. By the end of the summer it had gotten a little taller than knee high and looked like this...

It went through the worst winter in recent memory in the ground and I was relieved to see it emerge this spring. The problem is that it seems to have come back as albino! It isn't a new shoot off the side of the tuber but came out of the old p-stem. Anybody know what's going on here? It looks pretty sad and I may dig it and move it to more shade.

Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

Russell

It's not coming back as an albino, but since it has suffered cold damage it will take longer for the chlorophyll to regenerate. Let it stay where it is until a few green leaves are established or you could loose it.

Better weather and good growing to you Russell.

'Namwah Pearl' is a very low-chlorophyll plant to begin with. The original plant looked interesting, but it did not carry over well in tissue culture, and as far as I have seen, they are all very weak plants with very light colored leaves. They never seem to last too long either, I have never seen one over a couple feet.
