Default Strange leaf pattern

Hello all. I have a few dwarf bananas, unknown variety, and the leaves seem to be growing to the sides of the plant but not the front and the back. They appear healthy, but I'm wondering if they will fill in and grow more symmetrically. Is this a common characteristic for certain varieties? I think the youngest of these plants is about 6 months old so they are not to new. I posted a photo in my gallery per the instruction on this forum. Please take a look and tell me what you think. I have seen similar photos but can't seem to find any literature describing or explaining this growth pattern.

Thanks in advance for any and all information,

Mike

P.S. Those are not me painted toe nails in the photo, that's not really my color. hahaha

Is this common with the dwarfs? I grew several others last summer but no dwarfs and had not seen this before. I've even seen a few older plants, 2-3 years old that still have this characteristic. I hope they fill in. They look so healthy.

Leaves continue to rotate like the one in the pic on the left for the most part, but not all are the same.. :^)

Abnshrek, thanks for inserting the picture into your reply. I could only figure out how to add it to my gallery. So, how does one add a picture to a new post?

Thanks,

Mike

Everywhere I find them around here (Northern Virginia) they have a generic tag that says "Banana" and the people selling them act as if that is enough information not realizing that there might actually be a couple if not a ton of different varieties. It's kinda like "I'll take what's behind door number three" not knowing what your gonna get. Does make it a bit more interesting to see what they turn into.

Many of the commercial nurseries that sell to big box stores only sell just a few varieties.
If the nursery name is on the tag you can search them to see what they are selling wholesale, just to get an idea of what you might getting, so you do not have duplicate plants. But then again many times they are mislabeled anyway

Trevor, thanks for the link. The info makes me feel much better. The plants look very healthy, just strange leaf pattern. Can't wait for this summer so they can take off and grow up a bit. Thanks again,

Mike

Here are my dwarf Cavendish and they also have the same leaf pattern. I am going to let them grow and see what I get. I have 5 of these and only these 2 have that leaf pattern mutation.
