Storing seeds

How is the best way to store banana seeds? Now I have them in ziplock bags in the refrigerator, that's what I do with most of my seeds, but is there a better way to store banana seeds (Musa, Musella and Ensete)?

Re: Storing seeds

I don't have any experience with banana seeds, but a lot with carnivorous plant (CP) seeds.

I've often read that Venus flytrap seeds lose their viability within 6 months on the shelf. I've stored Venus flytrap seeds for over 5 years in the refrigerator and achieved a near 100 % germination yield. So I keep all my seeds, even vegetable seeds, in the refrigerator.

But I've also noticed that while the seeds I harvested myself germinated with 80 % - 100 % yield depending on the specie, that seeds that I had bought or traded had germination yields from 0% - 100 %. The poorest quality mostly came from commercially offered seeds.

I think the fridge may be too cold for most Musa, but Musellea should love it.
