Red face Stange Gel Oozing from Siam Ruby

Ok so I went and picked up another Siam Ruby for $1 from my favorite nursery. This one had a small hole in the trunk (not sure if its a bug or just damage) It appears to be oozing a clear gel (maybe sap) Has anyone out there had this experience? Sorry no pictures as it woudl be very hard to pick up clear gel on the side of a Siam Ruby.

A buck sound crazy cheep. It should recover from the sap coming out, it could be just water if the pots wet and there is a hole in the stem.
All the best

If it's a wound you could try charcoal dust or a dab of pruning sealer. Spectricide makes a pruning sealer in a spray can. I have used this on my ponytail palm. This is meant to staunch the flow of sap. Good Luck!

Well I chopped down to the ground the Siam Ruby as the hole truned into a spit and grew substantially in a week. I am convinced it was a bug. It appears now that the trunk (chopped to the ground) is sending out a new leaf so all is not lost. I have another Siam Ruby that has sent out 3 pups all green though, anyword on how many leaves need to come out before it can be determined if they will stay green?

I do have a Venticosum seedling although it is a little small right now, check back in the spring. My Orinicco pups are 4 to 5 ft and I have no way to ship a pup that large. If you want a Maurelii (and not a Ventricosum) they are large as well easily 4'.
