I would say the presence of spring in SOME or LIMITED parts of the country is founded. But 'many' implies numerous locations...and that simply is not the case, to be completely honest. Personally, I believe such statements (as quoted above) are quite audacious and egocentric. Maybe you should have said 'many locations in the south.' Maybe in a month spring will be evident in a majority of places, but not right now....not even close, really. We just got another inch or two of snow since that pic I posted yesterday was taken. I'm sure other areas east/west of here (and definitely areas farther north) also experienced similar precipitation.

I don't mean to insult, but please look at the big picture, read the news and don't just believe what you see out your particular window is what everyone sees. I'd like to hear from other members in other places in the south (TX, FL, etc), members from New England, members from the Pacific Northwest, and others from the Midwest in this thread to hear their personal anecdotes.

Edit...I think this diagram really sums up my points. This is the frost prediction for overnight tonight into tomorrow.

I don't think I need to say anything to help that point be made...it speaks for itself.

Really?? You're upset with my use of "many"??

I wonder how MANY cities i could list that are in zone 9,10 and 11... I AM implying that numerous locations are in spring! And yes, that simply is the case, to be completely honest!

So relax!! You don't need to try and prove that MOST of the country is still cold. We are all aware!! I'm sure 90%+ of the country is still in winter

As far as it goes for my area...it's 21 F here right now and this is what it looks like outside my window (was snowing during this picture, actually):

So yeah...definitely not spring here (and that goes for most of the US as well). As far as those of you experiencing warmer weather...appreciate it.
wow man that looks cold. I could not hang with that. Too cold for my blood.

LOL...actually this is 'weak sauce.' If this were taken back home, that bench/fountain wouldn't be visible.

And V, I'm not upset (though I understand that people frequently misinterpret my posts to be angry..they are meant to be read calmly...words in bold/caps are merely for emphasis). My point is that it's not spring anywhere except in the extreme SW/along the Pacific coast and in southern FL. Even your area is just outside the frost zone on the map I posted. I still think 'many PARTS of the country' is an extreme overstatement (considering 'parts of the country' seems to imply regions across the country such as NE, SE, SW, NW, Midwest, etc). That's all.

Perhaps it has something to do with you referring to my posts as "audacious and egocentric"

My area may be "just outside the frost zone", but the lowest it will get in the next 7 days is 45F.

Spring is here!

Spring is here, everything is blooming and growing. Bananas are leafing like crazy. Home improvement stores are busy with people buying their vegetables and other spring stuff.

For those still in the ice, look at it this way.... Spring is supposed to come early in warmer climates. The fact that winter is over, means that there is hope! soon you will be next

I guess maybe I just expected a little more universality in your statements, some respect/understanding for the rest of the members here (considering how many places they come from), etc instead of snide comments like this:

Weatherman just said 61* in Miami & 38* in Atlanta (?) GA.
I only go by the OFFICIAL first day of spring & summer. I remember a 60* day in Jan one year...everyone was out in shorts & T shirts LOL, & convertible tops down.
And then, the last 2 years we had frost in May. Go figure.
If you have some nice warm weather, enjoy...you might get snow next week LOL.

Sucks for Miami. I'll send some heat your way because storms are coming in this weekend. Usually West coast and East coast have opposite weather due to the jet stream
