![]() I rarely run out of Bananas, but I am currently out of them and my wife bought some Chiquitas out of the store. It has been a good 6-7 months since I last had a store bought banana and I must say "how do people eat such bland bananas". Growing up I used to think those bananas were a sweet treat. I think I've gotten spoiled over the past year or two by always having my own sweet bananas to eat and it just makes me wonder how the Big Cavendish Variety maintains its hold.

![]() Count your blessings Nick. As a small child I was eating gros michels. I haven't had a really good desert banana up till last year when I had a very tasty mystery organic variety. I think it might have been a nino.

![]() Everyone always calls them ladyfingers, but they are actually dwarf cavendish, just a five inch sugary snack. I've found that if I peel them, wrap them up in tinfoil with butter and brown sugar and put them in the oven that they make an exceptional dessert with a little whipped cream on top. If you were one of the 50 people that worked with me you would get to partake in the (sometimes) overabundance in my yard. Last summer it seemed like I was bringing some kind of fruit to work every week. No one person can go through 1000 lbs of avocados, 200 lbs of mangos and a ton of bananas in one year. I've decided this year that I will brighten the days of some people at the homeless shelter.
