South Florida Banana Production
 

Hello everyone. Does anyone have experience with commercial production ? Lots of fields of Thai Banana (Nam Wah) are being planted in Homestead. I am planting about 1 acre in Broward county and am trying to get as much information as possible. I believe I will be the only grower in Broward, but i am not sure.

ok well I was done in SW homestead(fl) I saw one field about 20 acers planted. I'm not so sure what this was intended for but it looked like a attempt to do some commercial growing. The next time I'm down there I'll try to get some pics. It's not far from going bananas. I asked Don he did not seem to know any thing about it.

hay Ar963 what state are you located in? I love you pice of that saba mine is half that tall and is 11 months old.

James, in his first post, ar963 told us that he was in Homestead. Even this old guy in California knows that's pretty close to you! ;)

Actually I'm in Southwest Ranches, FL which is about 50 miles north of Homestead. My first post was a little confusing. I think I am the only one trying commercial production this far north. My soil is organic muck which is why my bananas grow so fast. I fertilized my fist batch with 8 16 16 and now they are growing so fast that the leaves break from the weight. I hope I get monster bunches!
