![]() I have several newer plants and this is the first time I have seen this. I use
https://www.amazon.com/BANANA-FERTIL.../dp/B01CQPMQ30 every couple of weeks with my plants. All seem very healthy so far except this Zebrina. It has been my slowest growing plant and then this popped up. Any ideas? Also you can ignore the leaf with the holes below it. We had a caterpillar problem ![]() https://i.postimg.cc/sDctBsjM/Image-from-i-OS.jpg ![]() Last edited by charleston_nanners : 08-16-2021 at 08:02 PM. |

![]() I have had something like this happen before. The new leaf was very light colored. Has it been very wet? I have also read that this can be caused by an excess of nitrogen. The plant is growing faster than it can build sufficient cell walls. I could be wrong, but it may be related to an imbalance of nitrogen to potassium / nitrogen to calcium. Both of those elements are integral in building strong cell walls. From what I can find with my plants, I try to keep my NPK feeding to something like 3-1-6 ratio.
I suspect your plant will grow out of it. |

![]() Quote:
Root damage over fertilization (edges of the right leaf) or transplant shock just to name a few might cause this to happen. New leaves are usually light green till they harden off. The leaf will get normal color once it hardens off but will have the damage... The plant will probably sort itself out next leaf in a month or so. If you are at end of grow season you might want to curtail the ferts because they will be going dormant in a few months. For me small downy woodpeckers will practice on a new vertical unrolled leaf and give me the same look as your plant. ![]() Your plant is also an ornamental so no special fertilizer is required....an inexpensive water soluble similar to Miracle Grow/Expert from the big box will work just fine...fall sales for ferts at the big box will happen soon.....stock up. |
