Snapped!
 

So accidentally snapped the banana off. I cut the rest off at an angle like the pic and put the rest hanging in a glass of water with root stimulation stuff (which worked with a pup as roots grew fast into water). It was a bit rotted so cut it all off at the angle...I am thinking wrong compost as it isnt watered that much. Im using pure John Innes no3, is that fine or do I need a ton of perlite or vermiculite?
Will the stump grow back?

That was a nice plant! The corm (stump) should still develop a new central stem if it has kept apical dominance. If not it should bud from the sides. Make sure to keep the soil mix reasonably moist and as warm as possible day and night. It might take six weeks for something to grow again so be patient. The cut pseudostem will most likely die, even with rooting hormone. I tried that, they all died without exception, unfortunately.

Many forum members ship their large corms through
USPS that are cut similar to the one I have in the photo.
We do this to save on shipping costs
Like yours it is cut close.

I have never used John Innes#3.
It could be little "heavy' for your purpose.
Take a moment and look at the soilless mix I use and see if you can purchase or make something of similar lighter consistency

Like Louis14 said The plant will take a bit to sort itself out especially since winter is coming.

You should see the center stem push out within a few hours on the corm. If this doesn't happen, I would dig up the corm and inspect it rot & clean. Then repot in fresh soiled mix with 50% perlite.


I cut several pstems yesterday and the center stem pushed out about 6" in just over 2 hours.

May be ok yet...some roots started growing so put back in new JI3.
Our Royal Horticulture Society say to yse JI3 with 30% perlite. Its loam based and is physically very heavy...see what happens...
Im in Scotland so "tropical" stuff grows probably 10% as fast.
