Default Small red banana fruit?????????

I went to a Mexican market the other day and bought a hand of "red bananas". The fruit were 3-4 inches long and reddish brown in color. They were sweet and smooth in texture. Any idea what they were?

The most common names for the cultivar are 'Dwarf Red', 'Jamaican Red' and 'Cuban Red'. It is very common and there are lots of other names too.

I will try to post a picture of he next hand. I went Sunday to buy more but they were out. They were so good that I did not get a picture of them. I would love to be able to grow them here.

The lady I bought them from said they were "Red Bananas". LOL

I had something similar a short while ago, they were more black then red, from a place that has a lot of ethnic y stuff from all over the globe, When I asked the guy he said they were Cuban red. They were gone when I went back for more. Little sweeties compared to what we get mostly.
