Siberia experiment!!!
 

All hello! This year has decided to make experiment. To land banana plants in the street. A climate at us severe, in a word Siberia. Snow in the summer can go and to be small frosts. But nevertheless it would be desirable to check up, whether bananas in the street can grow at us. Steady kinds have been chosen: it is original Musa sikkimensis and its version Musa sp. Helen's Hybrid or Musa Sikkimensis ' Red Tiger ' (it will be precisely possible to learn after flower occurrence). Have landed them in the end of June. And all has passed successfully. I am very glad to it. Plants have let out some new leaves and even small puppies have started to appear. In September have struck frosts and growth has stopped. Plants have dug out and have cleaned in a greenhouse. To leave for the winter, in the street, has no has washed off. The frost happens more-40 degrees in the winter and no shelter will help. And it would not be desirable to ruin plants. Here a photo. The next year I plan to land Musa Sikkmensis, Musa Sikkmensis ' Darjeeling Giant ' and Musa basjoo.

Thanks for posting pics from Siberia. So You have only 3 months of summer? Next year you should dig them up before the frost. What are those colourful vegies on the ground?

Yes, summer only 3 months. The night temperature falls to +12+15, but can be and more low. A climate very sharp, frosts happen both in June and in August. But not in all areas. The temperature happens very hot +35, but usually +25+28 in the afternoon. This year the summer was very good, without a frost.
Vegies I didn't put, other employees are engaged in it.
Really all grows in a greenhouse well. Musa ornata blossomed already some times. I will soon lay out its photo. This hour blossoms Musa ornata ' Royal Purple ', Musa violacea and begins Musa sikkimensis. I will create for this purpose separate themes. And also fruits Musa Dwarf Cavendish ripen.
