I was at a local sale today and found a very very nice very colored up over 3 ft tall Siam Ruby...for $10.
I decided to get a second one and see if this one kept its color better than my other one (which IS coloring up again...slowly...now that Spring is finally here) I will post a photo of the new one later, tired, must sleep.......zzzzzzzzz |

Lilith,
I think it will retain it's color if you keep it in the sun. I never had any problem with mine losing it's color last year. It's sort of like 'Black Magic' elephant ears; in the shade it reverts to a more greenish color, it needs the sun to bring out it's most luxurient colors. I suspect that 'Siam Ruby' is the same. |

Mine greened up over winter too, but now that we're getting more light, it's becoming red again. So Siam ruby would not be good as a houseplant unless you had crazy strong light on it, because you'd never see the red, actually.
