Siam Ruby!
 

My baby TC Siam Ruby bananas have grown a good bit and are both sporting their own pups. These were purchased from Florida hill nursery in March, and probably made it into the ground late May/early June.





Was wondering if anyone else is currently growing these and how hardy they are?? I saw in the wiki that they prefer heat and humidity, constantly above 90, but in my experience from this past season they seemed to get stunted by the heat and are growing better now that it has cooled down a bit.

For me ..

This is a warm weather ornamental banana that grows well in a container.
Grows well in the warmth and long days of summer and is one of my first plants that let you know summer days are getting shorter and cooler.

Overwinters great indoors with additional lighting when small.
Not as forgiving as an Orinoco though.
Said to tolerate zones 9a and up......similiar to your Bordelons:)
They look very nice and should do well for you

I’m right on the edge of zone 9a with my downtown microclimate so I’m hoping they’ll pull though for me. With this whole arctic blast or whatever it is, the weather has been cloudy and chilly. Hopefully by Sunday we’ll get some sunshine and be back into the 70s and then I’ll grab some pics of the bordelons, they’ve been doing great!

Beautiful plants! I've never had much luck with them in the north even with trying to baby them inside over the winter.

I also want to grow it in my garden, I really like the look of banana trees and the banana, I hope I can grow them without harming the trees.

Musa Siam Ruby alongside Mus Red Kru is the most tender banana plant that i have grown, this banana rapidly declines under cool conditions let alone cold, you will need warm soil and air temperatures for it to survive, otherwise it wont.
