Re: SH-3640 flies north
Emergency surgery was required today.
After introducing a 50 watt grow mat( 8 days ago) from another group of health food plants the 3640 decided to try to push through 7 months of stubborn tight p-stem.... The surgeon cut a long posterior and anterior incision, with a robotic like incision and with a horizontal intersection of the infected tissue. The surgeon then removed necrotic tissue and released pressure for the new growth..... Thus releasing the Melendez Krakken..... 4 hours later. Well, it made it.. The plant presented wet and very immature with great green color. It seems there were two leaves wanting to see daylight. And unfurled they did...fast....120 minutes. I had thought the newly exposed growth would desiccate and do a die back to the pstem. But..not yet.. the super new tissue hardened fast... Currently the plant is sorting itself out.. I will post pics once the smoke clears..... The 3640 is a beast ..... Thanks for following... Last edited by cincinnana : 02-19-2019 at 03:56 PM. |

Re: SH-3640 flies north
I found out these are called scale leaves.
They have hardened and transpire moisture just like a regular leaf. Yet they are 1/4 inch wide. I inserted a white sheet of paper stock (for the photo) to break up half the photo from visable light to a breakdown of visable light. A few months from now the plant should sort itself out for sure...right. Great experience so far. Scale leaves by Hostafarian, on Flickr Last edited by cincinnana : 02-20-2019 at 04:39 PM. |

Re: SH-3640 flies north
Thanks
LOL, me too. It makes the growing expierience much easier and fun. These late season grows require some additional resources and TLC that the established plants don't get |

Re: SH-3640 flies north
The plant is a beast coming off overwintering.
Responds well to heat/sun and moisture as well as triple 19 general turf fertilizer. The plant fills an 18 gal container vigorously with roots. Maybe in a few grow cycles the plant will flower if conditions are right for the plant. This plant will seem to adapt to northern greenhouse conditions and simple overwintering. Seems robust. This plant had an infestation of spider mitea which was brought under control with multiple sprayings...the plant responded well. Great looking foiliage..and great growing container plant.
