Default Seperated Banana Pup All Leafs Died

I have a Rajapuri banana pup which I separated from the mother about a 3 weeks ago. Over that time all of the leafs on the pup have died. I read that it is best to just cut leafs off. So today when I noticed that that last leaf was not going to make it I just cut it off.

Is there any technique to cutting off the leafs of the pup and getting it to grow again? Is there any specific way that the plant should be cut to promote growth. This pup was the first pup and it was growing rather shallow. So if it doesn't make it I understand that it is fighting against the odds, but any tips would be appreciated. Also, please feel free to share info on any fertilizer you might recommend for getting the pup established.

Thank you all in advance for the help.

No need for fertilizer until the pup starts growing new leaves.

When you separate a pup from it's mother, it has to adjust to growing without the mother's support (including making a larger root base, etc) and because of this the leaves often fall off as the plant just can't support them with the small base it initially has. Don't worry too much if it doesn't have any leaves, all the action is going on underground and once it establishes itself it will start putting out leaves like normal.

I once had a pup that I separated and planting and for MONTHS it did nothing above ground except sit there (I began to wonder if something was wrong lol) and then one day it just started putting out leaves like normal. I've already harvested a wonderful bunch from what is now a mat, and it's put out the second generation of bananas with tons of other pups to follow

BG1 --- pup looks a decent size. Did it have its own roots when you yanked it out?

A trick I use to get dug out pups to take off in the pot is to put about 1/3 of Black Cow manure in the potting mix. I also dust the roots with Mycorrhizae powder, and water with a kelp solution for 2 weeks.

Straight Azomite and nothing else, works better and the results are incredible so far for me.

I add Azomite to the planting hole fill when planting inground. Also worm castings. The fill is 50% naitive soil and 50% organics - cow, compost, peat.

I'm pretty sure I've read in multiple scientific publications that 4 out of 5 banana scientist agreed, leafless banana pup trees exhibit faster growth with more vigor when using multiple water emitters.

Don't know but could be the current, tide, or lunar cycle.

Glad to hear Dan you use Azomite! How long have you been using it?

Thanks for all of the advice. It looks like the pup has started to grow a new leaf already.

Almost missed your comment. We have a rare fruit club member that runs a certified organic farm. He gave a talk on grapes once and we all took a tour of his digs. That's when I learned about Perdue chicken litter and other organics. He buys sulfate of potassium from Peaceful Vally at groworganic.com to force bloom and fruiting. It works great.

Went thru their calalog and discovered the benefits of Azomite, Maxicrop kelp, Micro-Hume and Fish emulsion. Also use worm castings which I can get locally. Still trying to fing S FL suppliers for this stuff. Shipping from Cali is a pain. I got all my mature naners to bloom and fruit last year before the cool set in.

I get my Azomite there too. Since I introduced it to my nanners my results have been amazing and the same goes for passiflora's, figs, vege garden, pineapples and citrus. I get much bigger crops and much healthy plants and the fruit is better tasting. I am a big believer in this product as well. It works great. Try contacting Azomite directly if you have not they should have local suppliers in FL.
