Saving baby Bengal Tiger and Mekong Giant.
 

I received three plants from an online nursery and all three had damage to their stock. On the Bengal it is about 1 inch up from the root ball and on the Mekong Giants it is about 3 inches up. Is there a way I can save them? I was thinking of just cutting them completely right below the damage area. Would that work?

The damage sustained is enough to make the plant lean heavily.

The damage mightn't be so bad. Once the distal pseudostem and the leaves don't go necrotic... why not wait and see?

If no cigar leaf emerges after a reasonable time; and especially if the pseudostem proximal to the damage starts to swell locally... a little surgery ( a vertical slit in the pseudostem at the area of the choke ) would liberate the shoot...

I do it all the time.

How bad is the damage? If the corms are firm, the plants should be fine. Any damage above the corm is practically cosmetic. If there is no rot on the corms just stick them in the ground and wait for them to start growing. Once they start to grow just give them water and fertilizer and stand back. They should do fine!

Thanks fort all the responses folks. When consulting with the nursery they advised me to cut 1" above the corm. I wish I didn't have to do that, but oh well. This is the first time I have received the shipment box in such bad shape.

Glad I can find resources when I have issues with my plants. I am a novice in gardening but I am quickly learning especially with sites like this one.

As of now my personal collection consists of:
4 Siam Ruby
2 Mekong Giants
1 Manzano
1 Ice Cream
1 Basjoo
1 Bengal

All of them are either a foot or shorter.
