Tog- why do you say SR won't flower? I'm sure it will given the proper growing conditions. No one here may have flowered it yet, but I think in time it will happen. I've never been able to get my M. acuiminata var. sumatrana (zebrina) to flower either, but I know it does.

Brent, this has been a question since time immemorial! I have asked my friends in Thailand and no one has seen it flowered! I got a feeling it has something to do with the Heliconia indica var illustris.....

Stumf, Patty, I have to admit it's pretty....(I have to repeat) like a beautiful wife who does nothing! Since it does nothing other than putting out new leaves, the Thais are totally bored with it. Over here, though not common, no one gives it a second look.

Oi people, no offense meant about the Siam Ruby from me. I like it very much and I have about 30 in all. It was one of the most wanted plant in my 'naner wish list before I got it. I was lucky to receive 12 plants as a gift from my Thai friend which came from a clone of near solid red.
Cheers!!!

Soorreeee...... I realised I had to do a public apology before I start getting death notes written on red colored 'naner paper!!!

Here's a re-write on my views of the Siam Ruby;

The Siam Ruby originated from SEA and took the Western world by storm. It is an exceptional musa variant which retains the coloration on its foliage throughout its life. It is an easy to grow variety adding a tremendous splurge of colors to the garden. It is equated as some as to having a gracious beautiful date or wife on hand to greet the visitors to the garden. Absolute marvel of the horticulture world! No garden can afford not to have at least a few.

Can I be let off now? Friends again, all???

Oh My, I saw this thread and thought i'd have a quick look as i've never really seen a Saim Ruby before. I totally loved the pics and thought i'd have a quick look in google (i'm at work so had to be quick). One of the first results was an e-bay seller selling one today!!!!!!!!!!! Wow, i've never seed one of these on uk e-bay whilst browsing nanas so for this very plant to be there, ready and waiting is a miracle. I also picked up a Musy Truly Tiny and a Musa Manii so i'm very, very happy. Awesome hobby!!!!

Glad you posted the thread Archangel
