sad looking bananas
I have about 12 banana plants that I started last spring - some quite big now in 15 gallon pots others quite a bit smaller in 1 gallon tree pots. All were overwintered in the basement under a 1000w Metal Halide lamp. Most look pretty sad now - was wondering if I could cut them back - would fresh new growth come up from the roots? The ones in the 15 gallon pots are now pretty tall but only 2-3 live leaves on them with a tall gangly stem.
They are red tiger, Absynnian, sikkemenisis, lasio carpa. So if I cut these guys off at ground level will that kill them or might they bounce back with some nice new fresh growth in time for putting outdoors in May?? Thanks - Glenn |
Re: sad looking bananas
You should be able to cut them back without killing them. You can cut off everything and it will start growing from the center of the old growth all over again.
