Repairing cut after removing pup
 

Is there anything that should be done to the area that was cut. Should I wait a couple of hours for the area to dry out before burying or is there anything I can use for sealing the cut. Has anyone tried using the Morrison's tree sealer on the area that was cut. I was also thinking of dripping wax on the cut. Or can I just go ahead and replant it?

This is suppose to be a Misi Luki from Willisorchards. The mother plant stopped growing and rotted away. I removed and potted both pups and repotted the mother corm.




I let the cut dry out for an hour before repotting.

I'd say no. Just as long as you have well draining soil you should be fine.:bananas_b

You can use that tree sealer but all you really have to put on it (& only if its going in the ground unless you have infested pots) is sulphur. Same as you put on potato's so nothings eats them up in the ground before they can get growing :^)

I put some root hormone from Home Depot on the cut areas. All my pups have taken off!!

I thought I would drip some wax on one of the pups to see what happens. I do have some of that rooting hormone but didn't think of using it. Everytime I read the warnings on the label I get wary of using it thinking I might end up with a new head growing out of the side of my neck like an old B movie I remember seeing on TV once. This is the first time I removed a pup so it will be interesting to see if they make it. Should I keep them in the shade or is full sun OK?

The plant looks like M. basjoo, not 'Misi Luki'. If you can get some close ups of the petioles and a photo of an entire leaf it will help to confirm it though.

Hi, Are the petioles the individual sections of the pstem? I bought figs from Willisorchards too and hopefully with figs I will be able to verify their true identity. I'm suppose to have an ice cream, misi luki and Raja puri from them. I have a super novak from edible landscaping.

I my experience Willis Orchards never sends the right Banana Plant. I hope for your sake they got a couple right :^)

The petiole is the small stem-like section between the leaf blade and the pseduostem. If this has very prominent, wavy wings, and you cannot find any wax on the plant, then it is M. basjoo. 'Misi Luki' should have a very distinct reddish underside of the leaf, even on young plants.
