Default Red Iholene question?

My Red Iholene banana is growing nicely, but the emerging leaf can't open. It's like it is glued tight at the edge. I wants to open up but it cannot. I'm curious what could be causing this condition? I live in Missouri and to describe the weather right now would be close to a Costa Rican rainy season day.

Thank you to anyone that might know what's going on.
