Default Raja Puri took 4 years

First surviving bunch of Raja Puri after starting the mat 4 years ago. Winter did in the earlier 2 bunches. Will report on taste in a few days.

Mine were the same way, it was 2 years before it even pupped. I was'nt impressed even after it fruited, only about 10 edible naners. I pampered it constantly. I'm wondering if it was a bad strain.

I've been a bit frustrated with mine as well. Same as you- been growing it about 4 yrs now and every time it tries to fruit it's late summer-early fall and not enough time for fruit to mature.

Today I cut off 7 RP naners and ate 4, wife 2, dog 1.

Great taste folks. Not too thin skinned. Just as rich tasting as the previous bunch -- Dwarf Brazilian -- but different.

Another big difference is they will all be yellow by tomorrow. Must be the heat. Time to grab the phone and get some help. Tired of peeling and freezing naner fruit.

Bo --- Tough call. All three -- DN, DB and RP fruited this year and they are all good but with slightly different tastes and texture. Right now I'm saying RP cause I got em in front of me.

What I will say now is the Datil, Goldfinger and SH3640 are in a class by themselves with exceptional taste. When the Chini Champa and Baloy give their first time fruit the ratings all can change.

It is the heat, but they also seem to have a short green life in general.

Just tried Raja Puri myself this week for the first time. They were at a local farmers market. Very good with the texture of dwarf namwah and a taste similar to DB, but still quite different. Can't wait to get fruit off mine, hopefully by this time next year, assuming it's really a Raja Puri. My first one turned out to be a Gros Michel. Thank you for posting your taste report.
