![]() I live in zone 7, in Bristol, TN. From looking at your pictures and seeing how you overwintered your RP's I think I will be fine using some your pictures as a reference. I had not considered the heat tape aspect, but that seems like a good idea. Did you insulate over the heat tape, or leave it exposed all winter?
Your plants look great to me. |

![]() I have a RP that's about 4 ft. tall and has about 2 hands of bananas doesn't look like it will get anymore hands. This is my second bunch in about 6 yrs. Did the same thing. Not so impressed with RP, maybe I have a bad strain. Dwarf Namwah has been amazing.

![]() Maybe so Bo.. I had 8 hands last year that came of nothing.. I don't have, but 10 fingers on the 1st 2 hands, hopefully yours has more.. I know if I would have thinned my herd on the other mat I'd have a flower or 2 on it.. :^)

![]() My RP mat makes more fruit than two hands on a 4' plant, but it definitely isn't nearly as productive or vigorous as Dwarf Namwah. Over the 4 or so years I've been growing them, I'd estimate that the DN mat has made 10 times more pounds of bananas than RP. In my climate, the "Namwah" varieties (Dwarf, "Misi Luki", "Belle", "Ice Cream") are the most productive bananas I grow. If only they had my favorite flavor. Not that I consider them bad, just not my favorite.

A couple of questions about the heat tape. What wattage did you use and what length of tape? I don't want to fry my plants tis winter. Thanks Rick |
