Rain, COLD...

I know we need rain here, but we need it a little at a time! I'm not sure what I should do about covering my plants. The blankets do pretty well with frost. But the heavy rain and cold? It's been POURING for an hour at least.
My IC bananas have little black spots on them, which I assume are from the cold weather?
Just venting... :2750:

Re: Rain, COLD...

Hello Anna,
I didn't imagine that the temperature at the time of 12:45PM in Riverside,CA
was 46F/8C. I have been thinking it is warmer than that.
I live in zone 9 and the temperature of the noon time was just 50F/10C, and
I have protected pseudostems with mats of vegetable materials to ensure
breathing and tops covered by plastic bags after being cut in the reasonable
height in order that rain does not sneak in the tops.
Thus they are tolerant to rain and cold.

Re: Rain, COLD...

Very sorry, Anna,
I have made a big mistake, and your temperaure of 46F/8C was that of mid-
night, while ours was of the noon time.
So your temperature of the noon time should have been far more warmer, and
winter protection shall not be needed.
Anyway I am ashamed of my mistake!

Hello!
It should be warmer than this here. :(
I did place a plastic bag over my Thousand Fingers bloom in case we get frost. They are saying it will freeze on Saturday. So I have to get my two Ice Cream bunches protected.
After Saturday, the days get longer! :2748: :2748: :2748:

Oh, do not be! The weather stickers are not always right. It is very cold and raining right now. I already have alot of cold weather damage to some plants. I have a couple that I need to put in pots, or they won't surive the cold...
