Question question on dividing red tigers

I was wondering if the pup on my red tiger (Musa Sk.) is large enough to divide from the parent plant. pic attatched. I was wanting to move it to another spot in the yard. Will it grow enough to survive winter if I divide now?

I was told rule of thumb is if the pup is 12" to 16" tall, it is ready to be moved. When you cut the pup free, angle your spade towards the mother plant so you cut enough roots for the pup to survive. Good luck. Red

Dig down and see if it's really a pup. Usually, sikkimensis pups at much larger sizes than this. If it really is a pup, I'll be amazed. Those seeds that fall in have a tendency to sprout when they are subjected to outdoor conditions. (Hot/Cool)

If it's a pup, I think you can divide it now if you really want, but be prepared to watch both plants slow down for the rest of the season as they heal their wounds! I would personally wait for more pups to appear. Remember, musas are not individual plants, it's allways a "stool" or a clump of bananas.

It's a pup. I jut planted the mother this spring. I have several pups popping up on all my red tigers.

Yes, now I see the other little pup poking up!

Again, it could be cut off, but I am afraid the growth-rate will go down for a while afterwards.
