Default Question about Rojo?

Greenhouse I go to alot in Wilmington has tons of these guys and they are 7ft tall. Now they come back every year so they are hardy to zone 8a. My question is if I could get him to give me a pup, would it better off then buying one of the ones he is selling? Meaning its use too the winters as they are older plants. I'm pretty sure he would not give me one since they sell them.

Buy one, grow it for the pups, sell a few and recover your investment....

Of course, you can get it for free.

I don't get it. You said if you can get a pup from the seller for free, now you are saying you are sure he will not give you one.
So like Bepah said, buy one and sell the pup to get your investment back. Simple. There is no contradiction.

What I'm trying to ask is there a better chance to survive in the winter asking him for one of the mother plants pups? The ones I would buy from some supplier they buy from might not be as hardy?

I'm figuring that he would be like why would I give these guy one out of the landscape here, when I sell them around back. Do you see my point? All he could say is no and I would buy one. Just curious what the chances of the others being as hardy.

Now I see what you mean. What he have is sure are hardy plants since they have been growing there for years. And that's what you want. The problem is will he give you one or sell you one?
Well, there is a good power persuasion : More Dough. Offer him more money.
As you said he can only say no. There is no harm by asking.
That''s how I sold my Calif Gold. The guy offered me one that I can not refuse.

Because you see if someone ask me if I can part with my bananas the first thing I will have to mind is is it worth it? Because digging it up consumes my time. And I would also think that I will lose a plant that I adore.
If I conclude that it is worth all the effort and the compensation, I'll agree with the deal. I can always reason out that well I can use the money to buy me a computer, a camera or something.
You have a better chance because you said he's got lots growing in his yard.

If you mean me I don't have any PM's. I can always get them cheaper at HD since they are selling stuff real cheap. Just wanted to have a realiable plant for the next growing season. I did give him a large pot of Prickly Pear cactus for free. Thanks

That's very true and I don't think you will have any problem growing them because they are hardy.

As long as they are true Rojo zone 8 should be fine for them. HD always has wrong names. But I have Brodelen spelling? Already so I would know if it was one of them named wrong as Rojo.
