Default Putting my Bananas to sleep

Ok so I dug all my non cold hardy and some boder line banana's up on Monday and today transported them under the house for the winter as this weekends lows will be in the 30's.
There has got to be a better way, as these guys are getting heavy.
As you can see I will have lot's of pups this spring including a Cal Gold (which will be auctioned off). The rest I can either trade or sell at a reaonable price if anyone is interested.
The Siam Ruby with all the bright red has a 18" pup right now with the same coloration (it too will be auctioned off)

If I dug them up like you did and put them in the garage but they sometimes got light from the garage lights would that be ok or do they need to be totally blacked out?

3 years ago I had my fisrt banana a small Basjoo that I got at the end of the summer, I too put in the garage which has some small windows on the doors, not to mention I would leave the door open on warm weekend days. Needless to say by February I was banana less. Now I have heard of growers having success in the garage, but my best results are under the house (in my crawl space)

Ok thanks. I dont have a crawl space. I'm trying to make a temp green house in the back yard with 2x4's and heavy clear painters plastic wrapped around it.
