Pinwheel Pup question

I have a nice sized ice cream growing in my back yard. Theres about 7 or 8 pups growing with it. They are growing amazingly fast. I really don't want such a large clump. Id like just a single stalk. Can I just (gulp..) slash down the pups (dont hate me)? I dont want a jungle, and it appears they are well on their way. Do I need to leave one pup as a replacement?

Yes you can cut them off at ground level, they will grow back though. Or you can dig the pups out, here is a good pictorial : Time to separate the pups for the Spring

Hiya Re: Pup question

Oh Kabby I know!! but what started out as a beautiful single stalk has now turned into a jungle that has monkeys swinging from limb to limb. I cant even see the barn from the house anymore. I did take a few pups and put them around the year, so I didnt commit total bananacide. Thanks, Nanaman, for your answer. Thats what Ill do with the rest of the "weeds!!".
