Default Pup?

Hi guys,

One of my bananas has a long, thin strand growing out of the base of the PS. Is this a pup? It's about ten inches long and not very thick at all.

Sorry, should have thought. It looks like it is a pup with another growing on the back right.

It looks like something else that geminated in the soil and is coincidentally coming up right next to your banana plant.

If this is a young tissue cultured plant, small weak pups like this are common, and it is best to just cut them off. Sometimes seedlings can also make small suckers like this, but it is more rare. Was this a seedling or tissue culture plant, do you know?

Thank you for the information. I don't know if it was tissue culture or not, I'm afraid. Is there any chance that pups will grow stronger as the plant ages or am I to expect this every time they grow?
