pruning banana trees?
hi this may sound like a really stupid question but would it be okay to trim the bottom set of leaves on my musa acuminata? and would it be good for it?

hello and welcome.
 if the leaves are brown and crispy snip away. thats what i do anyway. it will tidy up the look of your nana. however other members might do their 'spring cleaning' a different way.

The only benefit to pruning is having a nicer looking plant. Anything that's still green should be left alone for the overall health of your plant.

Momese and Mskitty are correct. Brown or damaged leaves are OK to remove but anything still green is conducting photosynthesis for your plant and removing them will reduce the amount of food it can produce for itself.

Hi Kitty, i did it last year with my little basjoo.
it isn't healthy, but if you cut a few leaves it won't be a big problem for you plant I think
