Propping up a fruiting banana tree
hi
Does anyone know how to make a prop to support a heavy-fruiting banana stem? My cavendish is starting to lean |

Re: Propping up a fruiting banana tree
I made mine the exact same way. I glued the pieces together using pvc glue and used a cheap length of structural pine instead of a length of pvc pipe as a support as it was cheaper and seems strong enough.

Re: Propping up a fruiting banana tree
In NSW, they use one stake with a horse shoe attached to the top. Not sure how they make it though

Re: Propping up a fruiting banana tree
I make mine from timber bamboo and hemp rope. They are aesthetically pleasing.

Assembly required - instructions are not.
2 pieces of structural pine and a pin. Assembed contraption in closed storage mode. Assembed contraption in ready for use mode.

Re: Propping up a fruiting banana tree
Much stronger and cheaper than using PVC.
Will easily support 400 kg bunches. Assembly required - instructions are not. 2 pieces of structural pine and a pin. Assembed contraption in closed storage mode. Assembed contraption in ready for use mode.

Re: Propping up a fruiting banana tree
That's great that you have something to look forward to,
and now you'll be prepared if it ever happens.
