Propagation Methods
Growth comparission between tow diferente methods of propagation...........
First one show the cut few centimeters above the mat........and the secons the cut is about 30-40 centimeters above the mat......... First : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AApFncmlPH4&t=26s Second : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=urzNDyk7tFc according the Author......the second method produce stronger plant......and better growth...... |
Re: Propagation Methods
But these are not propagation methods since you already have a healthy corm and plant. This appears to be a storage method until enough corms are collected to plant.

Re: Propagation Methods
Prapagation Methods is only in reference to In-Vitro propagation...???
I don´t know what word I can use.... For me its a traditional way to built a crop.......the same as propagation for me.......in this case its a traditional method........ but these vídeos have a slight difference....between the cut.........one is shot....the other leave a bigger piece of the p steam.........and this last have better results........ this method of cover with a plastic material........improve the growth of new roots........ I think that its not storage..........but a true methodology of root growth......as he explains........ unfortunately its in Portuguese (my language).......and I can explain if one want....... this guy have intresting vídeos on his channel about bananas...... |

Re: Propagation Methods
he is not storing..........he left only 10 days covered............
cover is part of his technique to produce roots he said in the vídeo............ something like what people did with Banana seeds.......locking in a container...to sprout........ |
Re: Propagation Methods
I understand it. The method! Not the language! And my opinion both of you are correct.
I do pretty much the same as he does in the 2nd. I prune roots back and cut the pstem way back. Even if i’m replanting right then! Cutting the pstem back helps focus on roots and not keeping the leaves alive. It also prevents choking and other problems. The pit creates warmth, humidity, and darkness. Great conditions for short term storage and for root development. I think it is a great idea for short term storage and to get the pups rooted and “jump-started” for field planting. |
Re: Propagation Methods
yes short term storage is the key.......at the first video he said 15 days....but in the second vídeo he said 10 days of storage under the plastic cover...........
