Problem with pseudostem mail order banana

This one spent more time in transit than usual due to usps screwup. Should I cut off the dark parts at the top or just wait and see if it grows through ?[IMG]

I'd be patient with it for a while. If you can get it to 80F or more, consistently, it will help it push new roots and growth.

I would cut it back a little, cut back to green.

i usually have good luck with plants like these by placing in my large seed propagator
untill they begin new growth maintains near 100% humidity and 87 degree f makes a huge difference but has to be in a smaller pot the higher temp is vital

I do have a spare heatmat and plastic greenhouse in the garage...

Cut all the dark off, I have had some I cut to the corm.Red and pink is OK.

I am with pitandiago....

Warmth/heat makes these fellas grow...
A few weeks/few more weeks of heat warmth will make your plant pop a leaf..
A shot will pop up ........soon

i am about to do an update on another thread with another plant(dwarf red brazillian) which was for me cut and planted in a container waaay to late in the season....Spoiler....the plant is a beast under 72+ heat and lights..

Update for this. After a few days the cut portion started to turn dark. Cut that off and what was the new cut portion is white. Should I cover the cut portion with plastic wrap to up humidity ?

I feel like it would likely just up the chances of rotting, no?

When I raise a plant from a corm/stem -and I've only done it a few times so this is an amateur talking- I go the opposite way and put them in a warm, but dry and ventilated place. That way the cut dries out, does not rot or develop mould and after a while, the new leaves start popping up.

Just my two cents. And again I'm no expert!

Outside temps in the mid 70f range . Probably about 85 or so in greenhouse. Keeping everything well watered and I may stick a bucket of water in there as well to keep them moist.

*****Just a couple of advices/suggestions......Re-evaluate the growing conditions!*****

1) What kind of medium (soil) are you using?

I will use a "soilless mix" means a mix containing any of the followings: coarse sand, rice hulls, sphagnum peat moss, perlite).....I don't use regular soil on my Nanas!......I use/buy pool silica coarse sand from Home Depot ($3.00 USD per 60 pounds bag), always works awesome on my Nanas!....

*****Keyword: AERATION!.....

2) Does the pot has enough water drainage? How often do you water it?.....

Keep water to a minimum for now....Add a small amount of water only between 5 to 7 days.....Make sure the pot has enough holes for water drainage.....

3) Keep the temp at least 80 F degrees......

I know you have the corm inside on your Greenhouse in or at least 85 F degrees....That should be enough......Corms thrive on warm (heat) temps, I will keep the temp at least 80 F degrees or above......

You still have time to save it!......Re-evaluate the growing conditions. Adjust it accordingly, otherwise looks like you are going to lose it!......

I totally agree with Hector’s expert advice! Most important thing is moisture. Especially this time of year. You could also slice off a half inch from the top of the pstem and make sure it’s all still green. It will also make sure it’s able to push new growth and not blocked by the dry tissue. Keep it warm be very careful watering. Once per 10-14 days max. You want it to be on the dry side for new root development.

This is an extra mysore pup that I separated in late Dec. Recently potted 2.5 weeks ago. Centre is solid and looks like it wants to push up in the next week.
As long as the rain doesn't get to yours it has a chance. Was it a TC or corm?
