Practical Formulars for Hobby or Profit
In one of my searches for info, I found a Google Books link to the book "Practical Formulas for Hobby or Profit" by Henry Goldschmiedt.
https://books.google.com/books?id=2h...ulfate&f=false The book has info for Adhesives & Cement; Cosmetics; drugs; Farm, Garden & Home special& to mix & make these products. There's too many to list. I did another search to buy a copy of this $50 book and found a used copy though Able books for $5 with shipping. I received the book yesterday after 4 days shipping. It looks to be brand new but has sat on a shelf for the past 55 years. I going though the Farm & Garden section now. There is lots of good info for fertilizers, flower & foliage preservatives, fungicides, pesticides, and growth stimulants, ect. too much to list. This will likely just become a quick reference for types of product I might need. Then I'll go buy it instead of making it. Last edited by edwmax : 04-21-2017 at 09:34 PM. |

Re: Prictical Forumlars for Hobby or Profit
Yes I know I have misspelling in the title. I can't access it for correction.
The book has basic formulations for commercial products. The formulas are given as ratios, making it easy to scale batch size up or down as needed. So many of these could be 'home' made if cost of the ingredients are not otherwise cost prohibitive. Anyway, for $5 the book is a good reference on how and what chemicals are used to make many of the products used around the house and farm. The book was published by Chemical Publishing Co.; NY. and is not 'copy cat' recipes by a 'kitchen chemist'. ... But a good reference every 'Kitchen Chemist' needs. |

Re: Prictical Forumlars for Hobby or Profit
Sounds like a modern imitation of this book:
Henley's Twentieth Century Book of Formulas, Processes and Trade Secrets 1942 Revised and Enlarged Edition The Norman W. Henley Publishing Company 17-19 W. 45th St. New York Copyright 1937, 1934, 1933, 1931, 1927, 1924, 1916, 1914, 1913, 1912 and 1907 Does your book include sections about explosives and pyrotechnics? Mine does. It has 861 pages not including the index. Last edited by aruzinsky : 04-22-2017 at 08:35 AM. |

Re: Prictical Forumlars for Hobby or Profit
No explosives, but there is a small section of pyrotechnics: water proof matches, underwater flare, sparklers, smokeless signal flare, lighter fluid, cold fire and a few others.
If you click the google link above, you can see some of the sections and the table of contents of the book. Thanks for your book name. I'll look for it later. ... Do you have a link for it? |

Re: Prictical Forumlars for Hobby or Profit
Yes, I found several links. One with Able books for $1 & $4 shipping. Also, it looks like the last edition was printed in 1967 ($10 to $15).
