Default Prepping for cold weather

Hello everyone!

Tonight is going to dip down to 36'F, Coldest so far this year. I am having a debate with my neighbor. He say when it gets cold like this I should water my plants root zone real good to help protect the plant's. So far I have never done this just added a lot of compost as my mulch around all my plant's. Has anyone ever head of this and should I try it or not? Thanks!

WormFarmer,

Watering does help hold heat, Water has the highest specific heat of any substance. Make the watering "light", as too much this time of year, low growth due to cold, promotes root rot in Bananas and many other tropicals.

Mulch, mulch, mulch!!!

I hope this helps!
